Cleveland Library - InterLibrary Loan (ILL)
InterLibrary Loan Order Form for Books, Audio Books, CDs, or DVDs
InterLibrary Loan Order Form for Journal Articles
You must have a valid Cleveland Library Card with borrowing priviledges, without unpaid fines or lost materials, and be under your maximum number of borrowed items. You may have 20 items total, including up to two items on ILL at any time.
Whenever an item you’re looking for is not found in our collection, we will try to borrow the item from another library in the United States, with delivery in 2-4 weeks. You may fill in the order form and e-mail it to us (we accept HTML, Word, text, or PDF files) or print out the form and bring it to the library. We'll contact you when the material arrives.
Most requests take 2 days to 4 weeks to arrive at the library. If we can't find a free lender, we'll contact you to see if you want to pay the lender's fees to bring the items in.
To order a book, VHS video, or DVD: provide the complete title with correct spelling and punctuation, ISBN, publication date, and edition.
To order a journal article: provide the complete journal name, volume and issue number, pages numbers, article title, and author's name.
Libraries will not usually transfer materials under 6 months old, genealogical material, material not published in the U.S., very old or rare books, very expensive books, audio-visual materials, reference colletion holdings.
These items may not be renewed. Your due date is set by the transferring library. It may only be one week.
If we cannot find your material or a library to transfer it, we'll contact you.
There is a minimum charge of 25 cents per day, more if required by originating library, for overdue materials. When returning InterLibrary loan materials, please be sure the label is still attached, bring them inside the library and hand them to a librarian instead of dropping them off unattended or in a return bin. If an item is lost, the patron is expected to pay the lender's charges for replacement.
