The August 26, 2007, food inventory is lean. We have 2 cases of flour tortillas, a few plastic containers of soup, several cases of canned yams and some fresh yams, some individual servings of cereal, a little baby food, ice cream topping, some cottage cheese balls from India, a little orange juice, and diet pop.

Basic Needs Ministry is running the Cleveland Township Emergency Food Pantry serving the hundreds of hungry Cleveland residents.

It accepts donations of money and canned, bottled, boxed food, refrigerated and frozen food - Mondays 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays 9-6 p.m. No open food, bloated or dented cans, or food on recall. No home cooked or canned food.

Let's save our residents that $3 a gallon gas. The nearest food pantries affiliated with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, when we began this project were in the surounding townships. There were none located in Cleveland Township with its 12,000 residents.
