Basic Needs Ministry - Clothes to Hangers
Due for a rewrite in fall 2007
- Hang enough clothing to fill the tall rolling rack, when no customer are in the building. When custoemrs are in the building, you may have to carry the clothing to the rack in the lower bay.
- Roll the rack to the lower bay and move the clothing onto the short clothing rack until it is full. Generally you can work from the short rack to the display racks and rails.
- While the rolling rack is gone, continue to hang clothing and fill the short rolling rack.
- Bring the rolling rack up to the prep room and hang enough clothing to fill it.
- When it is full, roll it to the lower bay and nest it, slightly over and around the short rolling rack.
- Continue hanging clothing and filling the short rack in the prep room.
- When the short rack is full, stop hanging clothing.
How to do it -
Use wire hangers for tops, unless the item is so long it will touch the rail or floor below. Then use clamp hanger and fold it exactly in the middle for an even hang. Use strap or foam covered hangers, if bra strap top likely to slip off wire hanger. Use round plastic hanger, when the garment has an open weave that a wire hanger will poke through.
Using the Wire Hanger
- The clothing always faces you, when placed on a wire hanger.
- The hanger forms a question mark (?) - open to the left.
- The top button is buttoned so the clothing will stay on the hanger and not droop. Drooping wastes space and wrinkles the clothing.
- The hanger is placed in the middle of the shoulders and the clothing is balanced on the hanger.
- The hanger is placed on the rack from the front - never from the back. All shirt fronts will face to the left.
Clamp Hanger Use on Half Height Rack Rails
-
Slide clamps to widest point on the bar that will hold the garment. This stretch tightens the garment and does not permit sag. Sag takes up space and causes wrinkles
-
To move the clamps without breaking the hanger, you must place your fingers behind the clamps and push them carefully.
-
The garment's weight must be centered on the bar to prevent the hanger from tipping sideways.
-
The garment should be folded in the middle to prevent any hanging parts from touching or overlapping the lower rail or the floor.
-
For small pants, clamp at the waist. If they are going to touch the lower rail or the floor, fold them in half and use a clamp hanger.
-
When hanging, garment should always face front, the hangers' neck should form a natural question mark with the open side to the left.
-
Always place hanger on the rail from the front.
